My mum introduced me to meditation as a child, so from a young age I've experienced the benefits from meditation for mental health and wellbeing.

 

When I was diagnosed with my chronic illnesses and in a bad headspace, I re-discovered meditation through an amazing free app called Insight Timer. With over 80,000 free meditations, it's like Instagram but for meditations, with a news feed with recommendations, and filters so that you can search any category of meditation you like, including the duration (which is extremely useful if you're pressed for time).

 

It's now been nearly 3 years that I've been using this app to meditate. It helps me to regulate emotions, to feel calmer, to relieve pain, to feel good and set me up for the day in a good headspace.

I've been searching for meditations I'd love to listen to and there are a few I've never found, so after a long time of wanting to do so much not getting round to it, I've FINALLY written my own meditations!

 

I hope these meditations will help you on your chronic illness journeys and to slightly alleviate pain or put you in a better headspace.

Healing Beach Meditation

 

The first one has been recently released and is a healing beach meditation. I find the sunshine and ocean can be SO nourishing and cleansing, so for anyone who feels similar and can't physically visit a beach due to the pandemic, this guided visualisation meditation will transport to a secluded paradise beach in your imagination. You’ll float in the crystalline waters of the ocean absorbing the glorious healing light from the sun. With ethereal music and gentle wave sounds and under 10 minutes so it's great for beginner (or all!) meditation levels, without taking too much time out of your day.

Self Love Meditation [Especially for chronic illness]

I created this meditation for those moments when you are feeling exasperated, frustrated, overwhelmed, filled with negative emotions, thoughts or pain. It's specifically designed for those experiencing chronic illness; either physical or mental. When I'm in these states, I often feel frustrated towards myself and my body, and this will only heighten my pain. So to get out of the thought cycle and fill yourself with the love you deserve, I've created this meditation. 

In under 10 minutes you will acknowledge, but then release any unwanted emotions and feelings. You will visualise a powerful golden light as it flows through every cell in your body. Followed by some affirmations of all the things your body “CAN” do. Finishing with a bubble of your own self-love to remain and protect you. Remember, you are a warrior, you got this.

Self Love Meditation [General]

An amended version of the above meditation.

 

I created this meditation for anyone and everyone so that you can fill yourself with the love you deserve.

In under 10 minutes you will acknowledge, but then release any unwanted emotions and feelings. You will visualise a powerful golden light as it flows through every cell in your body. Followed by some affirmations of all the things your body “CAN” do. Finishing with a bubble of your own self-love to remain and protect you. Remember, you are a warrior, you got this.

Morning Gratitude & Rejuvenation Meditation

9 mins

 

Take 5 minutes or 9 minutes to set yourself up for the day. You can listen to this meditation upon wakening or some time in the morning.

Starting with a focus on the breath & appreciation for all that your body does for you every day.

 

A manifestation visualisation of what your ideal day feels like. Visualising a bubble of pure love & light protecting and shielding you for the day from anything unwanted.

 

Finishing with a brief body scan and reminder of how wonderful your body truly is.

This meditation is for all levels. With a British female guide and calming background music

Chakra Wash Body Scan and Grounding Meditation

With Vedic influences, this 10 minute meditation is a guided chakra wash body scan and grounding visualisation mediation. 

 

Starting from the crown chakra at the top of the head, we’ll focus on each area, visualising the colour, relaxing each area and also being grateful for it and all that it does every single day. A great way to learn about the chakra colours and what areas they correspond to. Then, we’ll ground by visualising our energy flowing through to the core of the earth, and in turn, absorb powerful invigorating energies from it. 

 

This meditation is for all levels. British female guide, background music.

Anxiety and Stress Release Visualisation Meditation

This meditation was inspired by a concept of a visualisation my mum used to take me through as a child to release anxiety and worries! 

Take 10 minutes to release any worries, anxieties, stressors or unwanted negative emotions. Ideal for either sleep or during the day when it’s needed.

 

We’ll begin with a breathing exercise and will then transport you to your own garden sanctuary in your imagination. With your ‘Worry Tree’ in the centre, you’ll unload anything unwanted. You’ll be grounded & protected by visualising the synergy of the flowing sunlight and earth energy.
