Homemade Oven Chips

🕰 I have been making these chips for YEARS

⏲ They are quick to prep and you just slice them (5 mins) and pop them in the oven and wait about an hour (giving them a shake after ~30 mins)

I've shared these chips in previous Buddha Bowls recipes, however there are a few specific factors that make these so:

✨Soft and slightly sweet on the inside yet

✨Crispy on the outside

⏳ I make these when I want an ultra comforting warm meal, don't have too much energy to cook, AND don't mind waiting an hour

What's the secret?

👉 using BAKING potatoes

👉 skin on

👉 slicing them in a particular way, quite thinly

👉 a non-stick pan (important)

👉 a little olive oil (not too much, massaged in with salt and pepper - v important to give those potatoes some love 💘🥔)

Serves ~3


4 baking potatoes

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

A dusting of salt and pepper

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees centigrade (fan assisted)

Wash the potatoes and slice quite thinly, usually around 3-4 times down the centre then into strips (see images or videos for a reference). No need to peel them!

Transfer to a non-stick oven tray (important!) and sprinkle 2 tbsp olive oil with a dusting of salt and pepper all over.

With both hands, massage the oil into the chips until totally covered.

Pop them in the oven with a timer for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes give them a shake so that they cook evenly. Put a timer on for 45 minutes (some ovens cook them faster so check them at this point). I've found they usually take 1 hour total, but ovens always vary so keep an eye on them the first time making them

Serve with dips of your choice. Sometimes I eat them alone for a comforting and easy meal or throw in a protein and boiled veg!

Best enjoyed immediately

PS. if you want to make the recipe with less potatoes, just use a little less oil, you want them covered but not too greasy, so there shouldn't be any oil left in the tray once covered!
